Well regulated can be well ordered and efficient rather then subject to regulations by government bureaucracies. I'm
almost sure the founders where not talking about limits like
1 purchase a month, or no bayonet lugs on your gun. They were talking about how an efficient militia could help keep a free country free and secure. They make an argument for not infringing the personal right to own firearms, but they
do not make this legal right (or legal recognition of the natural right) dependent on someone being part of the militia.

Its as if the 1st amendment had been written as "Robust discussion of the issues of the day being an important part of any thriving democracy, the right to free speech shall not be infringed". That would not limit free speech to discussion of the issues of the day, not would it support outlawing non robust speech, or limiting speech at times that the democracy was not thriving. The first clause provides rhetorical support for the second but does not provide any limit to it.
