Ever consider that the entire concept of ASP's might just take off and be the future of computing. In that case, you do not need a hardrive. The only thing you need is a Sun-Micro-System that can handle big freaken bandwidth. The OS on the desktop is not an issue. You can use Windows, OS X, Redhat, VA Linux and on, and on....

The OS will have a price point of zero. It the richness of the ASP's applications that are important. MSFT's real competition is AOL and its future ASP application suite.

They have already lost the b-b market to ORCL, ARBA, CMRC, SEBL, SAP and SUNW because they are so far behind.

In fact, I do not think they can really compete with AOL either in the consumer space. Where does that leave them? Thats why the stock price is down.
