<<Is this fair?.......Giant Cisco Didn't Pay Any Federal Income Tax
Businesses get break on employee stock options>>

<<Like many high-tech firms, Cisco and Microsoft are allowed to take a tax deduction for money their employees earn when they ``exercise'' options and buy stock in the company at a preset price.>>

Oh My God, Cisco took their profits and gave them to the people who created the profits. And damnitall, the people who got the profits will be paying the taxes on them. Don't you hate when that happens?

What WAS your question? Cisco not paying taxes because they made no money because they gave it all to the wealth creators who will pay the taxes?

The scandal is their stock is valued based on a phony EPS that doesn't incorporate their true employment costs.

You creep! Cisco Systems employed thousands of people who paid taxes. What do you think they are doing with their profits? They are buying things, building homes, renovating and generally contributing to the wealth and prosperity of the nation. So YES it is more than fair.

I heard another creep on the radio today talking about how immoral it was to avoid taxes. There is a big difference between evade and avoid and Cisco Systems is obeying the law.

I guess so. They are following the law, which allows the deductions the writer whines about. Cisco employees about 20,000 and is growing. That's the type of entrepreneurship that allows our economy to grow. Ditto Microsoft, except I believe they have more employees.knc
