j1,

LOL, you have no idea what you're talking about. It'd funny if it wasn't so sad: yet another small retail plunger trying to explain what they see with conspiracy theories and message board pop fantasies.

MM's do shady actions every day-they back away from their offers all day long...

LOL! Backing aways?! What does that have to do with naked short selling?

If you've interpreted my message to indicate that I'm defending all dealers' actions, you haven't read it - which I'm sure is the case. My message addresses the naked shorting issue and how it's nothing but a scapegoat for whiners and the ill-informed.

If their not going to honor their offer until their backed into a corner it shows who's on the other end of the deal.

If you're talking about calling a dealer on a backing-away complaint and the fact that they'll sometimes fill your order afterwards, that's not necessarily them being "backed into a corner" or doing anything more than admitting that they got swamped.

You may enjoy believing that you were "owed" a print, but you have no way of knowing exactly what kinds of orders the dealer was getting hit with and why. It may be that you were backed away from, but it's far more likely - in this age of regulatory attention on best execution and order handling conformity - that you simply aren't owed a print due to other orders coming in before you.

Remember, j1 - making markets is a business; it's not a service. The stock market isn't UNICEF, and if you keep that in mind and you can wipe away those tears. My purpose was to dispose of the naked short selling BS, but I will hasten to add that if you have any other questions, let me know. I'll be happy to help you out -
