Arnold made a career out of being wild and risky. In the early years he would splash it, drop and chip to 20 feet and then ram the putt in the hole and save par.

I was about 12 when they played the US open at Hazeltine up in Minneapolis. Got up to a practice round with my dad and followed Arnold playing with Jack N. I was in awe! On about the 4th hole a par 3 Arnold and his caddie were trying to decide between a 6 or 5 iron. He turned around to the crowd, looked right at me and said which one would you hit? Once I was able to speak I said I would hit the 5 but I still wouldn't be able to get over the water with it. He laughed as did everyone else. Favorite golf memory.
