Network Technology Group Joins Compaq's Solution Alliance Program; Offers Strategic Advantage for Southeast's Leading ASP/ISP Solutions Provider
BATON ROUGE, La., Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of a multi-million dollar agreement to purchase Compaq ProLiant servers, Network Technology Group (NTG) today announced joining Compaq Computer Corporation's (NYSE: CPQ - news) Solution Alliance Program. The program gives NTG, an Application Service Provider (ASP) that specializes in providing businesses with a full range of data communication services, access to Compaq's state-of-the-art technical training -- including three levels of accredited system engineer certifications, technology solution centers to pilot customer applications, industry updates, and co-branding opportunities with Compaq.
``As a market leader in global ASP server platforms, Compaq shares our vision that the Internet is the foundation for businesses to have a distinct technical advantage,'' said Scott R. Thompson, CEO, Network Technology Group. ``The Compaq Solution Alliance Program, in conjunction with a leading-edge technology infrastructure powered by Compaq, will enable us to offer the highest quality technology solutions for our customers' hosting and connectivity needs.''
According to the January 2000 ASP report published by International Data Corporation (IDC), one of the world's leading providers of technology intelligence, industry analysis, and market data, Compaq was named by ASPs as one of the leading preferred partners in the categories of storage and servers: ``The Compaq Solutions Alliance program was launched last year to complement equipment sales and strengthen our relationship with strategic partners such as NTG,'' said Jerry Earle, vice president of sales for Compaq's central region based in Dallas. ``The innovative program helps companies develop, market, and sell their offerings on Compaq platforms and through Compaq distribution channels.''
As of June 2000, approximately 2,400 companies were enrolled in the Compaq Solution Alliance program. ``With a leading-edge network infrastructure supplier and strategic solutions partner like Compaq, we feel like we have an advantage in an increasingly competitive ASP market,'' said Thompson.
