My puzzlement with Moore's comment is the "gorilla like" aspect

Cha2
This almost reflects the discussions we have on this thread about which stocks are gorillas. The ideal gorilla would have clear cut characteristics but in our real world there aren't very many 2000 lb. gorillas and 800 lb. ones are hard to come by.
You think?

Thanks for your TI insights.

My only caution was that TXN is not (yet) a major player in CDMA and therefore is behind the curve in CDMA rapid wireless data transfer as of now.

We have discussed in the past a little bit about TXN's possible CDMA participation. TXN has announced the OMAP archtitecture for 3G and is working with Nokia, Ericsson and Sony. None of this proves that they will be a success, however working with two out of the three largest handset manufacturers and the largest consumer electronics company in the world leads me to believe that the architecture is at least attractive.

I think I need to go about this a little differently....

Besides SpinCo, what chip supplier do you anticipate is the best positioned for 3G? My answer for that is obviously TXN, but am curious about your thoughts.

I am long TXN....and am considering adding at these levels. I may also start a position in ADI. Both of these companies are involve in quite a bit more than wireless....the mass market components of both companies DSP sales are growing at phenomonal rates (I believe >70%).
