Barry,

Congratulations on picking a miserable month in the market for your vacation. If you have your September statements in the mailbox, I suggest you just put a match to them.

re: "If I'm not mistaken, I never saw an actual number for the estimated growth of revenues from Intel - only that it would be "up." When I started to read the news as reported by CNN's Moneyline and what the available US papers had to say, I was constantly dismayed by the incorrect reporting I heard. The most common errors, I thought, were saying that Intel had warned of lower "profits" and that Intel's expected 8-10% growth in #3Q rev was only going to be 3-5%."

When Intel gave guidance of "up", it was perceived to be very strong; they had always said "slightly up" in the past. I think that's where the analysts came up with the 8-10% revenue growth. I agree with you on profits, Intel didn't warn on the profit side, though they don't give a number on that side, they just give the expectations for various aspects of the business and the analyst's are supposed to do the math. They did lower GM I believe, and raise Intel Capital. Hopefully they can surpass lowered expectations.

Guidance will be huge next week, wrt the stock price. If Intel see soft market conditions, it will be ugly (IMO). Even just decent guidance should help the stock price.

BTW, P4 was delay to the end of November; Timna was scrapped. That was some fun you also missed.

Welcome home <g>,

John
