Steve, well, no doubt I still see the PC as a vital base platform.

I believe my original post was in reponse to someone else's
comments regarding Microsoft OS and PC unit growth for the future.

My point was that the urge to upgrade to a new PC each year or two
is now considerably less as microprocessor speed has started to top out
(without any appreciable incremental improvement to the average user)
and most bays have become standard.

The hope would be that end-users have more discretionary income
they could use to embellish the relatively bland PC experience
most have grown accustomed to.
