I have to work for a living and can not spend much time verifying every statement I see on this board but thought you and anyone else interested in your "facts" regards where Alaskan oil is refined, might be interested in what I have found. So everyone knows what I am talking about, in post 1964 AS said that: "As for more drilling in Alaska, two things. First no one can predict the extent of damage to the Arctic Wildlife Refuge but it will be major. There will be accidents. And all of that oil goes to Japan anyway, a fact which was never mentioned during the presidential debates." For the record all Alaskan oil has to be used for domestic need by law. See following: From: Alaska State Library Tuesday, October 17, 2000 10:06 AM To: Mike Re: sale of alaska oil The legislation authorizing the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, carried the provision that all Alaska crude oil must be used to supply U.S. needs. 43 USC 1651 is the legislation or Section 410 of Public Law 93-153. Most of the oil goes to West Coast refineries. Alaska State Librarywww4.law.cornell.edu newsminer.com EOM What you said in the second sentence is just flat 100% wrong. It is interesting that the man you support for the up coming presidential elections has the same problem with saying whatever is needed to prove "HIS" point irregardless of the facts. I will vote for Bush, not that it matters much as the eletion will be decided by the time I get to vote, not so much because I agree with all his or the republican parties agenda but because I will not vote for someone that has a history of saying whatever it takes to get elected. For the record as an Alaskan that would stand to benefit from more oil going through the pipeline, PFD this year was nearly $2000.00, I do not think we should be looking at ANWR as the answer to our future energy needs. We must begin working toward alternative energies and lowering demand. Carter was right to start working on research for alternative energy sources, a program which Reagan stopped. There is much more that I would like to comment on but can't, my lunch time is over. I know I'll get a responce and will be looking forward to it, not that I expect you to admit that your statement was wrong but it should be entertaining. Ya I know I missed some spelling, don't have time to spell check right now. I'm 5 minutes late for work. Michael
