a pool is not a weapon
Oh? I'm not so sure about that

Actually, pools were frequently used as defensive weapons by people who lived in castles. They called them "moats". Now, of course, they have to be regulated and fenced because they are "attractive nuisances". And they aren't very good for defense any more. And sometimes an aggressor is already in the castle! A gun is better.
I'd like to see some real unbiased statistics on the number of crimes which have been prevented by the fact that an intended victim had a gun for protection - which deterred an assault. But we'll never know, will we? Because only the "successful" crimes get space in the papers and on the TV news.
And how can the weaker ones in the population protect themselves against agressive stronger ones? "Stay out of harms way" OK. "Be smarter" OK. " Run faster" OK. "Leave the lights on" OK. "Buy an alarm system" OK. "Carry mace" OK. Feel safe now? One of my students was bludgeoned to death one night along with his brother and both his
parents by an intruder. Wish ONE of them had had a gun.
