re: submicron... funny how tech progress goes beyond expectations

in late 1980's I remember at Digital where engineers were screaming that submicron etching on chip design JUST WOULDNT WORK... an issue at the time with SILVER MIGRATION which saw heat actually shift the etched pathways, causing failure

now IBM is building a 0.1 micron plant, while submicron production is commonplace

dont EVER believe what even engineers claim is IMPOSSIBLE

did anyone think terabit speeds would be possible over fiber?
