BV,

If you've had any direct interface with these folk, they, and CibaVision, are in close contract with each other and the retinal specialists.

I'm quite comfortable with their statement and accept that it means that guidance is either on target, or more likely, as conservative as usual.

The shorts have another 4 1/2 trading days to spread their FUD until the earnings release. Actually I suspect none want to stay short into the earnings, so we'll probably see some strong price movement prior to the 17th.

Ian.

Boston, I don't subscribe to conspiracy theories when it comes to stocks. However, stock manipulation, in my opinion, is common. Fear is often the vehicle.
The Yahoo thread often has some very interesting, if not outlandish, statements and claims. I do NOT recommend following the Yahoo discussion. Recent posts suggest that Visudyne results have been disappointing, retinologist are unimpressed and that analysts' market penetration forecasts are far too optimistic. I think the stock is supposed to go to $25, according to one such post.
I have asked the two posters to provide the names of clinics where the retinologist are disappointed with the results of the Visudyne treatments. Fortunately, I will be vacationing in the US for about 5 weeks commencing later in October. I would like to contact, or preferably, visit one or more of these clinics. Due diligence, you know. So far, I have not had a response on the forum or on the email address that I provided. I am beginning to wonder if I will get any response at all. I suspect that the posters are using more of the same old slam and scram strategy and that they will not provide the requested information.
Regards,
Ed
P.S. I understand that the majority of selling is coming from one source that holds a large number of shares. It would not be surprising to me if an early, institutional investor in QLT decided to do some major profit-taking.

"Does this mean they've asked, or put another way, are in regular contact with this group? Or merely don't have any feedback data?"

"I may have missed it, but I'm not sure you answered my question."

Aren't you impressed with all the information I gave while I skirted around your question? :-):-) Sorry about that. I sort of assumed that Ian's response covered my opinion. Of course, I didn't say that, did I?

I really don't know exactly what ongoing contact they have with the group. Although I really don't like taking up too much of IR's time, I decided to make my third call of the day. I accessed voice mail so I didn't leave a message. If I get some definitive information, I will post it. My OPINION is that management monitors very carefully exactly what is happening in the treatment programs throughout the USA. That would be consistent with what I see as their somewhat empirical approach to issues.
More later, if I get specific info.
Regards,
Ed
