I would have to agree, the treatment must be at least consistent, but I think a distinction may be made for Sold or closed investments, which Intel is including and the variations in valuation from continued investments, which are not included.

The implication of greg nus, in his drive-by post was that Intel should mark-to-market the entire portfolio.
