Ted, I guess that depends on what you mean by "supporting the special interests of a special group like big oil or tobacco." PErsonally I think we should have more exploration for oil, and I am against all these lawsuit and regulations against tobacco companies. You can infer from that that 1 - I am ignorant of the facts, or 2 - that I have a different philosophy of the appropriate role of the government then you do, or 3 - that I am in the pocket of special interests, its up to you. Usually I try to give the other side of the debate the benefit of the doubt and accept that the 2nd of those three posiblities is the case or at worst the 1st. There are sometimes when I have to admit that I am not so generous, particuarly when there seems to be some actualy evidence that number 3 is true, but lacking any such evidence it is nicer and probably more useful, to consider #2 first.
