This is why I think so: IMO, Greenspan deliberately and viciously is intent on 'spoiling' the early retirement dreams and fantasies of us boomers -- 75 million strong in this country. There are TOO DAMNED MANY OF US that pose a threat to the well-oiled machine of putting more wealth in the controllers' pockets ... the already wealthy. Boomers who might possibly become rich are a huge THREAT to those 'in charge.' In several ways. First, they want us working 'til we're 75 years old. For THEM (the wealthy). And, to a lesser degree, therefore contributing to the social security administration -- which the wealthy rely on to support the aged and dying -- again, don't want it to come out of THEIR pockets ... 'god forbid' ... Technology, per se, exacerbates this threat to those in control ... specifically through online investing capability. The Houses don't LIKE US. They're not getting a piece of the 'boomer pie' proceeds, because technology provides us the ability to shortcut costly broker commissions. The BANKS don't LIKE US. Our money has gone into stocks, because the system pays 2.75% interest on savings accounts. Banks ain't getting any cut whatsoever. They're all just pretty damned pissed off, because they ain't getting more of any of our money. So, let's destroy the stock market. FORCE THEM, goddamnit, to pull out and 'go to cash.' Back to the banks, i.e. Politics is what I think it all boils down to. At our (the great unwashed public) expense, of course ... Nothing has changed for us boomers ... as fervently as we thought in our naive youth that we could change the world, it is still being knocked into my head by those 'in charge' that you just can't fight the system. I'm still fighting it, however ... sucking up just ain't my thing ... ;) 'b-i-a' ###
