Could use help in understanding the financing arrangements. When the BS is notified that a tranche will be put to them, am I error in assuming that they short the stock. I am currently very long in this stock, but feeling hard pressed to understand if that dynamic of BS shoring the stock is a valid assumption! Would appreciate any comments!

Thanks everybody. I Needed a pick me up. RS after reviewing your posts about the tranches I have one question. Since these block trades are so big, who's buying all those shares so cheap?

Also, am I correct in saying as long as these large tranches continue to trade hands. Somebody is very interested in G*.

Thanks in advance

More Tranche Talk.....

Today, we saw the SEC filing for Tranche 7, noticed to BearSterns on 7 Oct for 340K shares. Probably due to Monday's semi-Holiday, it was three trading days after Tranche 6, rather than the usual two.

It seems very likely that Tranche 8 was noticed to BS yesterday afternoon in the amount of 430K shares; and that Tranche 9 will be noticed after the close on Monday, October 16, for 450K shares.

If we suppose Tranches 7-9 clear an average of 6.5$ per share, G* will have raised 39M$ by middle of next week; at that price, and assuming an average volume per tranche of 550K shares, it will take an additional 19 tranches to fill the BS commitment; the earliest they could finish at that rate would be December 6 (sorry Maurice!).
