THQ
Investors have definitely taken a nice ride with this stock, since we recommended THQ 68% ago on July 12. Not only has the company enjoyed the recent excitement around video games this year, its stock has climbed to $23.50, once again making a late summer rally as it has for each of the last six years.
The company has an exciting slate of games set to release on various platforms during the holiday season, including 3 World Wrestling Federation (Nasdaq: WWFE) titles and children's games with Nickelodeon and Disney (NYSE: DIS) .
THQ is not very well prepared for the immediate PS2 launch, with only one game expected to be ready in the next two quarters. This may lead to some difficulties after the holiday, depending on how much software spending actually shifts over to the new console.
With this is mind, investors might want to lock-in their profits in THQ after any run-up during the holiday season. Unless management offers more guidance at this time as to when the company's strategy for the new consoles will really kick in, this may cause the stock to under-perform its peers in the meantime.
