STOLEN STUFF--RR This goes along with your thinking......I believe.....at least the lunch stuff...LOL:

Well ..even I helped myself to some GLW afterhours. After Nortel eating Lucents optical & switching lunch for the year resulting in a couple of prior earnings warnings ... I was just surprised the miss hadn't been announced earlier. I expect the market was waiting for MOT/Yahoo ... and the Lucent warning. Now comes some rather more positive earnings .... I trust ...LOL

Hi RR:
First of, LUzer is a customer of JDSU. Strauss did say he did not want to compete with his customers but rather do what he could to make them better customers. NT, for a Canadian company, is quite agressive and the reports are that they have so much business in optics that it is expected they will blow estimates for even this lousy 3rd quarter.
What I hate to see is that J and NT are being painted with the same brush as the LUzer. Gawd, this has to be LUzer specific problems. They are kinda do a bit of a George W on running their company. I would expect that their FO is down. Man, they were last to the gate on this whole thing.
Why would NT and J be brought down in afterhours? I am hoping this is just a knee jerk reaction from the Street.
How about that analyst that upgraded LU a few short days ago? Wonder if he has packed his bags for Bermuda? Why is the Mary Meeker babe so quiet? Hmmmmmm Inquiring minds want to know.

nice job, Ranger... CIEN and JNPR were up today
great strength during this Tech Bifurcation
some NewTechs held up well, while OldTechs fell more
with INTC, MSFT down 50% severely, and CSCO and ORCL down 30% from highs, OldTech generals have given clear indication of changing tech winds

enter the NewTech leaders... expensive but tremendous prospects

did you see the drubbing BRCM took, down 21 pts (9%) ???
fell in sympathy with the chips

I like this Finneran guy from Unterman
he cited three tech stocks for reco purchase

AMCC: Advanced Micro Circuits, a Gilder fave
they gots fiberoptic connectivity chips for diverse markets
WAN, LAN, SONET, ATM, FibreChannel, HDTV
a Who's Who list of bigtime customers

PMCS: PMC Sierra, a McNamee fave
they gots nifty DSL, ATM, SONET chips and much more
both their customer list and competitor list are Who's Who

GLW: Corning, the transformed one
they sell kitchen glass skillets and saucepans that cook up a storm on fiberopt networks
probably the most relatively cheap fiberopt leader stock
they have an added advantage of a steady current of staple product, namely thick fiber LEAP line
