Yes, may be.. Anything can happen of course. But I assign a negligible probability to it at this point. They have jump started 12 CDMA manufacturers in China, got them licenced by QCOM, visited, negotiated with and seemingly agreed, Unicom announced their CDMA plans (one last time) and government blessed them including Mr. Wu, head of MII, Metropolitan areas are running out of frequency, they would like to be a world class exporter of CDMA gear, and CDMA is much cheaper compared to GSM (it is against the Chinese grain to spend more than you have to for anything). There are just so many overwhelming reasons for the Chinese to go CDMA. I do not even think they will even play any more games on this issue.

China now has a problem with the EU, and from an opportunistic perspective, that's even good for any US interests in China, the EU is the dirty dog now, and the EU will loose out a lot of opportunity in China now.
