One wonders if Microsoft has a counter-hedging strategy as well. Note the warrants have about TWO YEARS, so any "loss" is on paper--why would they realize them in October 2000!!!???

You could make a case like this any time Microsoft stock falls--that they are behind on warrants more than the previous day!

...but this is October, so it is yet another bear story.

MSFT to reduce income by $350million for hedging activities

MSFT's 6/30/200 financial statements contained this disclosure regarding the adoption of new accounting standards for hedging activities:

Adoption of these new accounting standards will result in cumulative after-tax reductions in net income of approximately $350 million and other comprehensive income of approximately $50 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2001.
