-- 10/19/2000 10:13:00 AM NTRO slides after Q3 report
Netro (ntro: news, chart) is shedding $18.25, or 40 percent, to $28. Volume is about 2.6 million shares, which is already about 2 1/2-times the daily average. Late Wednesday, the provider of broadband wireless access services said it broke even in the third quarter, compared to a loss of 17 cents a share in the year-earlier period, and the average analyst estimate compiled by First Call for a loss of 3 cents a share. Revenue increased 298 percent over last year to $20.5 million. Analyst Michael Ching at Merrill Lynch followed by cutting his intermediate-term rating on the stock to a "neutral" from an "accumulate." Ching noted that gross margins were 400 basis points below his estimate. He added that unless the company significantly outperforms expectations, the stock's "premium valuation will be difficult to maintain."
