The bible believes in God; My teachers/parents/preachers/priests believe in the bible; I believe in my teacher, etc., therefore, God exists--and He exists as He is depicted by my teacher, by the bible.

It is this difference that has stood for some of the disagreements on this thread: Some have tried to approach the idea of God from a fresh and unencumbered perspective (recognizing that our previous knowledge, and our biases, will necessarily influence our objectivity). Others have started with an idea of Truth, and have (understandably) attempted to defend it.

The rational inquiry of the possibility of God or Gods, must necessarily recognize that there are myriad individuals and groups making the claim for absolute distinction in the realm of Truth. This alone awakens the concept of skepticism, as regards any ONE claim--which (thus) dismisses and diminishes the beliefs of the majority of the human race.

Like you, Cos, I find much in the Universe to suggest that Truth may, indeed, relegate our conceits to the corner of the coal bin, but at least we have owned our thoughts, and the responsibility for what we believe. This is not a small thing...

(WELCOME steve! Nice to have you here.)
