thanks duff. Makes things a little clearer. I am one of those who believe that the mutual funds are selling their gainers to lock in profits and losers to offset profits. Assuming FMR got MRVC shares a lot cheaper than where they were in May, selling them over the last quarter would make sense.

5% of a company for a fund to own is still a positive sign. Still accumulating at all prices below 44. Looking for tomorrow morning to add more shares.

Not likely. Just imagine what would happen to the price of MRV stock if they had to file a SEC paper in advance their intention to unload 3,235,368 shares of stock.

Never did think it was required to be filed "in advance", Duff, that would be ludicrous for the very reasons you listed among others. Insiders don't have to file that they actually sold until after the fact and I thought there might be a similar rule to holders of more than 5% of the outstanding shares as well.

I think the S-13 quarterly filings that we have seen are all that are required.

You might be right about that.

perhaps not much...do u know how many shares of jdsu furakara has unloaded onto the mkt over the past yr?...needless to say, alot...and yes, they did report to the sec exactly how many shares they were unloading...jdsu bounced back nicely(although not doing well now)...but furakara was defintely on the move recently.
