Maybe so but Gore did help Einstein develop the theory of relativity.

Joe and thread:

This press release just came over from Reuters; for those who been around for over a year, its amazing how much press AMD's earnings report is getting this quarter. Nothing like this has happened before in the past year and half.

AMD is being treated like its a bellweather for the industry. I suspect the media intends to trumpet the results with the spin that all may be well in techland!!

GO AMD!!

Joe,

Maybe Lynn Segal does not know about the new SEC law that goes into effect on 10/23. That will make analysts much more superfluous.

Why do you think some of the analysts' calls have been more off the wall lately? They have been cut out of the loop.

D. Niles was on CNBC today. He said that when he cut ALTR and XLNX, he was not absolutely certain that it was the right call. The reason he made the call is that he believes that the two companies can't maintain the 75-80% YOY growth rate of the last few quarters and that the channel is full. He may be right but later, when the CEO from XLNX was on CNBC, he said he wondered where Niles was getting his info.

I think the point is is that companies have already stopped giving guidance and the analysts are having to dig for their info, and yes, to guess. I think their info may not have much more depth than what we dig up ourselves.

I think, in time, it will reduce their power significantly.

Joe,

I missed most of the AMD presentation, but what I saw was pretty much of an Intel bash-fest.

Becoming Vice-President requires a skill set and drive that most of us can barely comprehend.
