"I consider the foundation of the Constitution as laid on this ground; That `all powers not delegated to the United States, by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States or to the people.' To take a single step beyond the boundaries thus specifically drawn around the powers of Congress is to take possession of a boundless field of power, no longer susceptible of any definition." Thomas Jefferson: Opinion, February 15, 1791

Gosh- I hope that includes the tyranny of all religions. When we water the tree of liberty- can we blow up all the churches first?

Unless the church is forcing people to join and burning heretics and such then it is not acting tyrannical. Note I said IS not "did hundreds of years ago". If a church says don't do X, and you want to do X then you can go and do X. Even if the church lobbies the government to get its agenda passed then it is no more tyrannical then any other organized lobbying group.
