Dell Computer (www.dell.com) is about to get even more serious about wireless. While the PC maker has been offering local area network products for its notebooks for about a year, Chief Executive Michael Dell, speaking at a big customer gathering called DirectConnect last week in Austin, Texas, said the company wants to build notebooks with wireless wide area networking capabilities.

HP Triple Play
Seems Carly Fiorina is doing a pretty good job over at Hewlett-Packard (www.hp.com). After about a year serving as the company's president and chief executive, Fiorina last week also picked up the job of chairman. HP also said it will buy back $1 billion worth of its common stock to offset dilution of its shares because of its employee stock plans, and that it was on track to meet its 15 percent revenue growth for the fourth quarter.

Owning Up To Its Mistakes
Name-your-own-price innovator Priceline.com was given 30 days to get its act together by the Connecticut Better Business Bureau (www.connecticut.bbb.org), which said it has received about 300 consumer complaints since 1998 and was moved to revoke Priceline's membership in the BBB. The company said nearly 80 percent of complaints came from customers who bought low-cost airline tickets and didn't like some aspect of the itinerary. Others complained about not getting timely refunds or being unable to get through to customer service reps. Priceline said it has been working for a while to address the issues causing the complaints.
