Ted said re blackouts: I guess we have blackouts in a sense. Voter tallies are not released until all the voting places are closed in the West. It wasn't like that before and they found that the people in the western states were not bothering to vote..

Ah.. in each region up here (it usually is divided up by time zone, since all polls in each area have a consistent poll closing time at 8 pm local time) the election results arent allowed to be shown from the rest of the country in that area until their polls close - then the local/regional tv affiliates in that area join the national network which is monitoring election results, which is when they find out what the rest of the country is doing voting wise and how the political parties are doing. I dont think you'll find any political party or bloc of voters complaining about this.. its generally agreed to have helped voter turnout west of Ontario.

There have been times when someone has won the popular vote but lost the election due to the electoral college count.
