I have to disagree, Charles. Look at theStreet.com headline: Yahoo! Tops Expectations, but Cautious Words Haunt Investors We'll see what happens to Yahoo tomorrow, whether the "cautious words" are enough to nullify the "good" results. I think at this point that the expectations for Sun are very high, and it will sell off with anything except another blowout PLUS vigorous guidance in the conference call. What McNealy has said recently actually worries me quite a bit. "Our stuff will continue to sell even if there's an economic downturn" and "We've had a bunch of ill-timed rate hikes". McNealy is expecting a recession. He is setting up rationalization scaffolding for "cautious words" in a conference call. Sorry to be a wet blanket, but with the Sept. 27 announcement an effective no-op and no excitement generated over new products on the near-term horizon, I can't envision any serious upside for the stock coming out of the earnings announcement. Downside is another story. --QS Edit: I am still impressed with Sun's strength in the face of the Nasdaq weakness and believe it will continue. There's no reason to think, absent an earnings disappointment which is unlikely, that it will suffer the same fate as Apple even if it does experience some post-EA selling.
