tekboy,

Noting that Mr. Gore has been labeled a "serial exaggerator" prompts me to suggest you would be comfortable as our "serial optimist." (gg)

please say, "don't worry, everything will go back up again someday, even higher than before, or at least the good ones will, and we're smart enough to pick mostly those."

Okay, I won't. How about fear, frustration, anger, panic and words like sell. Is that what you want to hear? <ggg>

The weeding out process will indeed allow the best of the best to recover. Be they the new leaders or the old leaders. Earnings don't really matter in a market like this. It's been a selling party and a real bonanza if you've been playing any shorts. Fleckenstein's over on his column using Xerox as an example which indicates he's down to some of his last straws, but it's good to see him using all of his resources and getting creative. He might turn bullish yet. <ggg> Good grief, maybe somebody should let him know Xerox was hit with a discontinuous innovation or two over the last two decades. Snooze and lose.

Growth is growth. It will rise from the 'dead' again - of that I'm certain. By the time kid number one is out of diapers you'll be able to smile for several reasons.

LOL!(that's allowed here, right?)

I went to sleep last night and had a dream that I drove over a cliff. I saw dead people and they were me!

I think that that's as good a sign of a bottom as any that the "pundits" on CNBC use. So we rebound from here! (or, I really go off a cliff...)

Speaking of quality, though, NTAP and SEBL are holding up well this morning...

don't worry, everything will go back up again someday

I remember an aging professor telling a story in grad school about the oral exam for his doctorate in finance. He said the first question was the easiest he could imagine: "Would the Dow Jones average ever reach 1000" since no time frame was specified, and since markets ultimately go up, he did not hesitate to answer yes.

Just think how lucky we are, in the space of about a year we witnesses one of the most incredible bull runs ever and now we get to see a nasty bear. Experienced old salts after 12 months, now that's Internet time.

PS. Just added some GMST at 64 7/8.
