... the world as seen in 1950. Yes I remember it well, it was nice.

(8). "Kids today are impossible. Those duck tail hair cuts...

For me it was the late 50s and we called them DAs
for Duck's Ass hair cuts. I do remember thinking
that my thick brown hair combed as such was good
as those outlawed motor cycle gang members had
them and they were seened as bad and strong role
persons for people like I that fought grown-ups right
to tell me what to do. Anyone over 15 to me was
too much grownuped, and 25 was way too old
especially if they were married and double especially
if they had a new young baby. I ignored them.
Worthless they were unless they had a motorcycle.
The truth I now say, its true, really honestly I did
at age 11 I had a real black leather motor cycle jacket
with lots of shinely zippers and crome. Until a noisy
neighboor told my Mom and she located where I had
it hidden, and just like those girlie pictures, poof gone.

(34). "Kids think money grows on trees."

That kid today is that government man in charge of
putting trees into the printing press with a little ink
added so that out comes those US dollars.

Energy costs - this seems to be the hidden factor. I live in Eastern Ontario - the high cost of gas has affected so many businesses - starting with gas stations, obviously, marinas, camp grounds, car repair shops and so on - but from what I can see the economy on 'main street' in small towns is not doing well at all - probably due to other factors as well -yet I hardly see this reported.
