I agree that we can get a strong bounce anytime now. But I don't think we are even close to a major turn. Not until the Dow and the value stock indexes sustain considerably more damage and the VIX moves over 30.

Thats not what Bush wants--to invest people's money in the stock market for them. The idea is to let people invest thier own money the way they want by giving them some choices besides LT Government Bonds. If they want to buy real estate with the money or stocks--its up to them. This country was founded on freedom, not the Government deciding everything for me.

Both candidates have a menu of index funds, including bond funds and MM funds. Would prefer marketable securities to the non-marketable paper in the SS trust.

By "other idiot" I presume that you aren't taking sides.

I happen to believe that choices are better than a single option government debt instrument. None of the options represent any guarantees.
