we are all truly in a sad state of affairs.

it seems to me now that only g-d knows the truth, and he's not telling.

he's simply watching us all and laughing i suppose... i suppose it's too bad that the 'cosmic joke' is so painful and tragic at times...

how did we ever get into this mess with 'god's chosen,' and 'sons of cain,' and 'goy' and 'catholic' and 'protestant,' and 'pagan?'

'what a wonderful world,' at least that's what the old anzio vet turned and said to me once... that meant a lot coming from him, given what he'd seen with his own two eyes.

anyway... this whole middle east thing... 'fubar' describes it well.

i hope that the power brokers know what the hell they're doing in the middle east, or else many of us are very likely to get 'vaporized' or 'torched.'

whatever the truth is the media sure isn't telling it...

so who is the man behind the man behind the man and what is his purpose? what forces are _really_ at work in the middle east?

andy

Re: ...we can't trust the Arafat, Arabs, nor your kind...

LOL! And what kind of foe am I?? Fortunately, you don't have to worry about my leanings as regards the Middle East since I have absolutely no stake in it, nor do I have any political clout in Belgium, Europe, whatever.... I am just like you, Yaacov: an isolated, harmless Joe-Six-Pack who indulges in geopoliticking.

Besides, as an agnostic, I couldn't care less about Jerusalem wholly remaining under Israeli sovereignty. Why should we divide Jerusalem? After all, in 1989, everybody gleefully acclaimed the tearing-down of the Berlin Wall, and today, everybody hopefully awaits the same outcome in Korea --the peaceful reunification of South and North Korea... Hence there's apparently no reason to long for the split-up of Jerusalem. Israelis are as decent a people as any other one and I'm pretty sure that Israelis would do their best to secure a safe toing-and-froing for all worshipers --whether Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, or Orthodox. Yet, we all know about the history of Israel and the fact that the Jewish settlers have unilaterally seized the whole city in 1967(?)

Another serious problem for Israelis is the extent of Arab demands, that is, where will Palestinians draw the line? I think that's the biggest "PR" snag for Israel: over here, in Europe, most people assume that once Israel gives in to Arafat's whim about Jerusalem then that's it! No more claim! The damn war is over --once and for all! Europeans don't take seriously the hatred of hardcore Hamas and Hizbollah. So, again, it's the same deadlock as Spain's: the Basques already enjoy a very large autonomy, they run their own police, their schools, their language,... Basques elect their own parliament, so what's left? Foreign policy (ie international treaties) and finances. Yet, terrorist ETA still wants more.... Well, "more" in the case of Israel means nothing less than the wipe-out of the state of Israel, pure and simple. I think that's the toughest hurdle for Israelis but I believe that once East Jerusalem will be retroceded to the PA, Israel will have a much easier job taming Anti-Zionist out-and-outers. After all, other much more powerful states are confronted with the same challenge: Spain (Basque), France (Corsica, New Caledonia), Russia....

Time for Israelis to see the light!
