OK, now you tell me how you can tell the real difference in performance between a G4 and PIII when using your office S/W. You must have a microsecond clock in your brain if you can really perceive a difference between the two systems in everyday applications every time you click the mouse.

It's not so much the speed of individual operations, but the way they accumulate over time.

As I think everyone here who owns a top of the line PC has mentioned, using it just feels faster than using a top of the line Mac. Windows snap open, programs launch more quickly, content scrolls faster.

If you sit a 1GHz PIII/Athlon PC down next to a 500MHz G4 Mac and start using them, the PC is noticeably faster in day-to-day use.
