For all those longs out there that need some encouragement I thought I would reflect back on a previous October. I picked October 1998 and a fantastic stock CIEN. Here are 2 back to back posts. You really should peak at this chart first though.

Ciena Outlook :))))

I am a former Bell Atlantic employee and know what Ciena's products can do. I was
happy the deal with Tellabs fell through because I felt it was not a good match, rather a
merger with a
telecom service provider would be more likely. The need for
bandwidth with the internet and the need for telecom carriers,
both long distance and local, to upgrade network capacities to
provide this capacity will decide Ciena's future.

The failed merger with Tellabs has afforded me the opportunity to
get in at 13,12,11, and 8.5. If I could afford more I would buy
it. Looking to ride Ciena into a 7 figure portfolio. My suggestion is buy all you can afford.
If you get nervous, wait for a bounce and sell. I'm betting you'll be sorry if you do.

1. The stock can't find it's bottom with one hand.

2. Where's the leadership? This stock's been through the ringer and they don't seem to
give a damn. Say something.

3. Leads in technology don't last very long, especially for small companies. Take
advantage now, or lose it. Wake up.

4. Other, better stock opportunities.

5. Good luck to all. I think one day CIEN will recover, maybe bigtime, maybe next
week. Just too risky right now. Time for me to recover.
