What's the impact on Comm IC companies? Merrill's morning call on AMCC: We expect the comms-IC sector to be weak due to Lucent's preannouncement last night. We would particularly view any weakness in AMCC as a particular opportunity because: 1. We believe that Lucent's issues are company specific execution issues, and AMCC has little exposure to Lucent; 2. Nortel is likely benefiting from Lucent's mis-execution, and AMCC derives 35-40% of its revenues from Nortel. Our channel checks indicate that demand from Nortel continues to be robust, and that the company continues to execute.
