BGR:
"There is no PPT"

Man, it's good to have you here to clear up these misconceptions so definitively. (g)

Re PPT:
I have to admit that I shared your viewpoint until the last few months, but I am in the "conspiracy" camp now. (g)

Ah, did you get that deflation-inflation statement in correct order? I just want to check on that before I reply.

As far as the "fundamentals of the economy remaining strong", I am on the other side of that one for sure. I have 30 plus indicators,..... all admittedly hugely amateurish, but they have been strongly negative for 5 months now. As far as the government's stats. are concerned, I think there has been enough commentary pertaining to the many "hedonic" sleight-of-hand tricks being pulled by the BLS et al that there remains very few who put in faith in those stats at all,..... including the Fed itself!

In other words, no, I think it is self evident that the U.S. consumer is pulling in his horns, and slowing his borrowing. No borrowing equals no buying,.... which isn't bullish for the general economy. Everything I look at suggests that it is slowing .

Best, Earlie
