What O'Brien also "missed" was that LU's loss is most likely NT's gain. And JDSU supplies NT. Doesn't really matter which entity actually buys the components. JDSU will sell the same amount -- more or less -- unless the market for f/o in general is slowing. No signs of this at all. Yet another sign that no slowdown is in sight? LU will be devoting MORE resources to fiber optics. Suggests they believe (if one can trust the judgement of LU management) there still is opportunity for them in that space.

I am still taking JDSU's need to increase authorized shares from 3 billion to 6 billion as a good sign. They don't need the shares for the SDLI deal. All evidence points to a booming business and a possibility that the company will blowout earnings. The ETEK/JDSU supply agreement prior the merger might also be kicking in now ---ie. the post merger synergies.

I'm hearing both companies are having good quarters. That's enough for me considering SDLI's Mike Foster has guided analysts to 25% or better sequential growth.
