"There have been (and are) innumerable cohesive philosophies of life." Perhaps you could list a couple of the best ones for us.

I am not going to determine for you what are the best ones. For the adherents it is the one to which they adhere. All of these are cohesive to those that believe, just as yours is cohesive for you, but not to most of the world...

gnosticism, buddhism, taoism, hinduism, sikhism, Confucianism, transcedentalism, individualism, humanitarianism, humanism, fallibilism, fatalism, formalism, nihilism, materialism, marxism, subjectivism, capitalism, Hegelianism, dialectical materialism, historical determinism, totalitarianism, pacifism, panpsychism, pantheism, contextualism, perspectivism, pessimism, stoicism, cynicism, existentialism, consequentialism, pragmatism, altruism, hedonism, deontogism, descriptivism, prescriptivism, determinism, anarchism, libertarianism, liberalism, objectivism, intrinsicism, realism, socialism, communism, emanationism, emotionalism, epiphenomenalism, eudaimonism, jainism, etceteralism...

How about some anti Buddhist posts?

Well, this board is actually about the question of anthropomorphic Gods, but, what the heck...How about some Buddhist posts?? They are certainly a large movement. Is there anything in their belief system, or in their history, that is cause for concern, in terms of people being able to live together in peace and freedom. Anything that is a threat to peace and freedom is worthy of discussion.

and not hide behind some feigned agnosticism every time I'm pressed

This has never happened. You made that up. And my agnosticism is not feigned.

Ultimately all evil will be expunged from the universe.

THEN WHAT?? (and how do you know all this?!) Note: MOst of the people murdered by God in the bible were not evil. They were either absolutely innocent, or they were wearing the wrong uniform or skin color. Conversely, many of those that God supposedly supported in power and propped up, were extremely evil and unfeeling people.

"that many of these millions killed in the name of Christianity, would not have been tortured and murdered without the sanction and justification of the bible."

>>Do you really believe that?
>>

I KNOW it as HISTORICAL FACT.

Do as little harm to others as is possible and as much good as you are able.

Be generous, kind, compassionate- have empathy for all living things.

Enjoy as much as you can.

Accept, compassionately, the things you dislike in yourself, in others, in society- and never lose sight of the subjectivity of your own views.

BE tolerant.

BE creative.

Never stop learning.

How about some anti Buddhist posts?

Greg,

I really don't think you understand Buddhism. See, there is no anti-Buddha. Since Buddhism accepts all paths as equivalent if they they lead you to Truth. What would something "anti-Buddhist" even look like? Something that says its false, so embrace me?!!

See, unlike most religions, Buddha was just a guy who became enlightened. Kind of like that song, by Joan Osborne,"What if God was one of us?". Guess what, God is probably just One of Us. The Cosmic Force of cosmic forces, as it were, IMO.

One of infrequent visitors here, who always seems to get my name wrong, thinks that I'm missing something. I don't. I'm at peace. I don't have to feel that you're missing the boat because I'm on it. Maybe you don't want this boat and you'll catch the next one or the one after that. Whatever gets you there safely and happily, is what I say.

If you're happy, I'm happy for you. You've found your path. If your angry and hostile, and find people get irritated with you, well you better keep looking.

I'll gladly tell you about my naturalistic philosophy if you want me to, but I'd never say there were consequences for not believing it. It isn't really a religion in that way.

If I was to give it tenets then they'd kinda look like this

a) if it doesn't work for you, then no harm, no foul
b) there isn't any dogma,
c) you learn it by watching
d) if it's true, embrace it
e) if it's false, reject it
f) if you're not sure, go on your intuition: that's what it's there for.
g) be kind and compassionate to all living things
h) thinking about it makes it more likely to happen

Anything else would be just specific examples of these general principles. I guess it makes it a happy little Borg religion - prepare to have your Truth assimilated!
