Just seems a bit big. It's not on my restricted list, just the "gee, that seems a bit big" list. NO, I only shoot paper now, but not that far away.

The .458 would make a fine whitetail deer gun so long as I get to use my loads. Speer 400 grain softnose on top of just enough Accurate 5744 to get 1300, maybe 1400 fps. Duplicates 50 caliber black powder ballistics - no muss, no fuss.

And probably lighter in recoil than some five-pound yuppie space rifle with a carbon stock and chambered 7mm-08.
