<These past few weeks, I've become aware that somewhere in the past twenty years, I've developed a real affection, even allegiance to the Lone Star state>

Maybe we ought to get you "naturalized".

Kinda' like the guy who dreamed up the bumper sticker ~ "I wasn't born in Texas but I got here as fast as I could"

Do you know this one yet ~

I'm a Texan, I'm a Texan
I'm a Texan Star
I ride on the range
where the broncos are
I can ride 'em
I can rope
I can show ya how it's done
So come on all you Texans
with your six-shooter guns
dadadadada
bang bang

There's a little routine that goes with it. And to think I didn't perform it for you while I was there.

Rambi, I know you were not attempting to offend, and you did not. The bit about the steaks and tapping the beer keg, was intended to let you know about one of the underlying reasons for some of the good ole Aggie traditions. Us oldtimers love the place, but have not forgotten that we had a hell of a lot of fun while there, too.

I don't think the wrapping of the leg over a woman sitting next to an Aggie is a bona fide tradition. It certainly wasn't done in my day. Of course, the kissing of dates every time we scored was a must, but in those days, we had to have a reason to kiss in public. I'm not sure any behavior is looked down upon in public anymore.

I will have you know, dear lady, that I am taken, and would not have used my leg in that fashion even if it were a legitimate tradition. Uuhh, attractive, you say??? I do know an attractive blonde in her 40s, but she was not at that game, because she is with me most of the time, and is not from Texas.

I don't know about the others, but Rice is a fine educational institution and puts out first rate graduates. I am a loyal Aggie but know, for a fact, that it is a lot harder to qualify for Rice than it is A&M.

Sounds like you are a victim of the Texas syndrome. If you don't love Texas before you get here, it won't take long for you to change your mind.
