"The solid blue line across the top of my IE Home Page reads the name, not the URL"

to the best of my knowledge, that's not where the address (url) goes anyway, carolyn. it is on a toolbar by itself with the word 'address' in front of the url.

did this just begin happening?

have you opened and closed the browser?

did you reboot?

didn't you say just a couple of posts ago that you now had the address bar?

Maybe you have the "Full Screen" feature turned on. Press F11 and see if things improve. If it gets worse, press it again.

Try right-clicking on various places around the toolbar. You'll get different context menus depending on where you click. The one you want is

Standard Buttons
Address Bar
Links
Radio
Customize

Make sure there's a check in front of "Address Bar".

Even though "Address Bar" is selected, you may not be able to see it. There are other groups on the tool bar that may be covering it up. Each group has a little handle on the left part of it that you can use to slide it right and left, or pull it up or down to adjacent rows. Drag any of these handles you see with the mouse and see what pops up.

It sounds like you may have your Windows Taskbar on the top of your screen. I had it there for a while and I hated it. I think all right-thinking people should have it on the bottom :). It was almost impossible to move back. Is auto-hide enabled on your taskbar or toolbar?
