Lizzie,
There is lot of corruption in India. It has been institutionalized by certain political leaders of the past. There is hope for improvement as there is a reasonably good judicial system for a developing country and recently ex Prime Minister was indicted on corruption charges. You may be surprisee at it because the Indians you come accross in US are largely law abiding and play by the rules. You will rarely see any of them breaking any laws here.
