Rob, Safeguard Scientific is one of my all time favorite long winners. Not only did SFE do well, but at least 5 of the spinoffs I got became very profitable for me over time. Coherent Communications and Cambridge Tech were the two that did the best for my portfolio.

That being said, I think you are aiming for the right price at which to get on board. Mgt. is very smart, but finding good cos. that would give them stock for financing help has been tough the past couple of years. Not that finding cos. was tough, but finding GOOD cos. at a good price. Now, with many smaller tech firms in the toilet, SFE can ease in to some solid situations at a decent price. If you are buying for a two year profit, I think $10 is the place to start nibbling.
