all speculative bubbles end in a hangover...in the case of Japan, a 10-year hang-over that is soon going to be 11 years old. it will be interesting to see when the Nikkei finally makes the trip back up to its old high.

it may not happen for another decade...

a little further back in history, the bursting of the early 18th century "South Sea" bubble in Britain led to a 60-year long depression.

admittedly the outlook for Japan seems somewhat brighter than that.
