USA Today gives Bush and Gore each 153 electoral votes for states "definitely" in their camp. 270 needed to win. If Gore wins WA, Ore, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Minn, Wisc, Tenn, Ill, New Jersey and NH he wins by only five electoral votes. Minus New Hampshire he wins by one electoral vote. exactly 270. (Gore recently ahead in NH) My belief is that all of these states except maybe NH are going to go Gore even if it's very close. Therefore this could be the closest election in history. If Bush however wins anything more than NH he wins. Gore still has a fair lead in PA though it's gotten closer. He ought to carry NJ okay, Tennessee has to go Gore in the end, Wisc, Ill, Iowa and Minn are fairly liberal states which should go Gore. I'd be really surprised if Bush won Wash or Oregon. However a few thousand votes in a state like Washington or Iowa or even Tenn could give Bush the election. Wild card - Gore is narrowly ahead in Florida the last poll I saw. If he carries that state it's all over for Bush. But I give it to Bush. I give him the entire south ex Tennessee. State pride in the end, folks. Though clinton could get out in the end and win him Arkansas. He still has a lot of clout there and should go out with a great deal of positive sentiment despite his bumps and bruises. 65% approval rating most recent poll. Wow could this be a squeaker. I don't care who you're for you have to admit it. This is going to be like a world series going to seven games and all the way to the bottom of the ninth. One mistake or lucky hit could win it all.
