Bush looked okay except when asked questions about his record in Texas. Then he looked like a deer in the headlights until he smoozed and evaded his way through it. expect the Texas record to be the big issue going forward. In fact the press has already caught him on one exaggeration. Only 2 of the killers of Byrd got the death penalty. Bush said all three did. Small details but coming from the man charging Gore with exaggerations he hurts himself. On pollution, guns to felons and health care for families, Bush is vulnerable. Again should be very-very close and get very vicious before it's all over.

Four things I think Gore has going for him. His new underdog status, his additional money, Nader-Black-Hispanic vote eventually going for him more strongly and Buchanon with 13 million to spend this month. In case you hadn't notices the blacks and Nader supporters haven't yet all capitulated and agreed to vote for Gore. They will in the end because they have to. Doing otherwise would hurt their pet issues too much. On the other hand, Buchanon now polls at 1$ but is running far-right ads in many states. He actually has just as much money to spend as the major candidates now. That could make a difference. 1-2% of far-right wingers in Tennessee for instance gives it to Gore.
