Three-Five reports earnings doubled in Q3:

Company makes components for OEMs, including PDA manufacturers.

TEMPE, Ariz., Oct 11 (Reuters) - Three-Five Systems Inc. (NYSE: TFS), a maker of computer displays and components, on Wednesday reported third-quarter earnings that beat analysts' expectations, as profits more than doubled from a year ago.

The Tempe, Ariz.-based company reported third-quarter earnings of $4.3 million or 19 cents per share, compared with $2 million or 14 cents for the same quarter last year.

Analysts polled by First Call/Thomson Financial had forecast average earnings of 15 cents per share.

Three-Five said it expects fourth-quarter margins to be flat compared with the third quarter, while fourth-quarter revenues should rise 10 percent to 15 percent over the third quarter figure.

Shares for Three-Five lost nearly half their value in July after the company warned that second-half sales would be weaker than expected.
