Paul, if I want to sound like the CNBC guests, I'd say we're close to the bottom. But I'm not them and my answer is I don't have a clue. As you know I've been saying the last couple of weeks that the time to go long is after Oct 19. MSFT reports on the 18th, and by then most earnings reports will have been out. Even at current levels, the markets remain vulnerable until earnings are out of the way. And now we have heightened tension in the MidEast, increasing oil prices, the sky is still pretty cloudy, I think.

Not that we can't find good bargains today, but for the next 6 days I'd buy them very selectively and sparingly. In the meantime, we should continue to enjoy the short side.

Regards,

Tom
