Are you certain about the pipeline stages being poofed up? I'm pretty sure I know at least one of the microarchitectural changes (yeah, it seems AS is wrong), but I haven't solidly heard about the pipeline.

The double clocked pipeline makes a lot more sense in the context that the entire back half of the pipeline shares this feature. It would have been rather stupid to double-clock only one stage, as was earlier reported.

On the other hand, it makes their clock speed problem more serious than I originally anticipated. It also implies totally decentralized control, which generally means lower IPC.
